It’s July long weekend! Sunny sun, drinks, beach days, warm nights. With the peak of summer comes an update on my summer bucket list for 2019. You know I’ve set out a pretty lofty list of things I wanted to accomplish this summer (Summer solstice to September long) so where am I at?! Let me update you on my adventures.
Beach Every Day for a week
I am well on my way beaching it every day for a week. It’s awesome! We have a cabin on Jackfish Lake (Saskatchewan) that we bought last fall so this is our first official summer at the lake! I’ve been living the lake life for the last few days and it’s been easy to get to the beach and feel a bit of sand between my toes every day.
Today is day 5/7!
Squat 275 lbs
Prior to being pregnant, I had a pretty decent squat (~300 lbs at 63 kg body weight). I lift weights for both physical and mental health so even during chemo or pregnancy, I never stopped squatting (some points just body weight). The stronger your body, the easier your recovery. This summer, I wanted to set out to regain some lost strength. Although I would love to get back to my heaviest squat, I wanted to set an achievable goal! Each week, I had a bit more weight and this week I squatted 185 lbs for 5 sets of 5 reps. I’m confident I’ll hit one rep at 300 lbs by September long.
Practice Animal Flow
I’m a certified animal flow instructor but I can’t seem to work a practice into my routine. My goal was to practice animal flow 2x/week but I’ve already fallen behind. So I’ll reset and hopefully find a way to fit animal flow into my exercise programming by the end of summer.
Take a Photo Every Day
This challenge has been great and I really encourage you to try to do this as well (especially if you have a DSLR camera collecting dust). I’ve already learned so much about how to use my camera in manual mode. Still a long way to go but I’ve really expanded my knowledge already.
Max’s First Time Swimming
Little Max got to go swimming for the first time and my heart nearly exploded! I was the clique mom taking a million picture. We dipped him in a very cool Saskie lake. A prairie boy baptism.
Attend Outdoor Concert
We held our June Chai and Chat Surviv(her) meet up at the Saskatoon Jazz Festival this past week! Great music and great company with other female cancer fighters. Find out more about Surviv(her) here.
